I adopted a black and white Argentinian Tegu because she needed to go to a good home. She's an amazing lizard, very fast and one of the most intelligent reptiles - they'll recognise and bond with their owner, learn to use a litterbox, go for walks on a leash etc. This one is 3 years old, about a meter long and feeds on live mice. More and better pictures later, but I'm going to leave her to settle into her new home for awhile.

That sounds awesome! So do you have to have a license to own one?

Nope, no license is needed. But it isn't a pet for beginners. They have special heat, lighting and diet requirements for them to stay healthy.

From what I hear they can go for around $400 when young, more than that when older. I got her for $20.
